First County Federal Credit Union is All New, All Yours

First County Federal Credit Union was founded in 1961 as C.M. Employees Federal Credit Union, which soon changed to Avondale Federal Credit Union to represent the surrounding neighborhood in Muncie, Indiana. The original membership group was comprised of employees at the nearby Chevrolet Motors Division.

The mission of the new credit union was “to promote thrift among members by affording them a place to accumulate their savings, and to create for them a source of credit for provident or productive purposes.” Those are still our goals today.

In 2004, with many changes at our membership groups and seeing the need for better rates and better service for all working families in Muncie and Delaware County, Avondale FCU changed to a community charter and became First County Federal Credit Union. This allowed a much wider group of people to join and take advantage of the many benefits of membership, including free checking and the highly competitive loan rates we are known for.

If you live, work, go to school or go to church in Muncie or Delaware County, Indiana, you can join First County FCU! Learn more about free checking, our many savings options, or the loan that suits you best. Then give us a call at 765-284-3471, send an email or stop by to get started today!
